Hey,

I want taht the users on my website enter their city and postal code, but as I read on wikipedia (German) there are countries without postal codes, so I have to check if the selected country has postal codes...

Wikipedia lists the following countries:
* Antigua und Barbuda
* Benin
* Burkina Faso
* Ghana
* Ireland (planned for 2008)
* Colombia
* Mali
* Namibia
* Peru (only in the region Lima, planned for the whole country)
* Togo
* Uganda
* Vietnam

Is this list complete? Do you have any further information?

Thanks!

The Universal Postal Union has 191 members, of which 117 have postal codes : http://www.upu.int/post_code/en/postcodes.html

The site lists only 70 countries which have a postal code. That's not exactly what I'm searching for... but it helps to decide for which countries the postal code is not optional on registration.

For user entry validation the postal code format pattern could also be useful. It is included in the countries.txt file in the sourceforge repository :
http://geonames.cvs.sourceforge.net/geonames/data/

Marc

PS: Samokk has merged the two country files:

Jason's list is not accurate, I'm afraid. Some of the countries listed do (now) have postal code systems. For the most up-to-date information, go to my pages at http://www.grcdi.nl/linkspc.htm, go to the country you're interested in, and it will have "No postal code system" next to the country if it has no system. Otherwise, it has postal codes.

Hi Grofzr

You can post them as attachment to the posting or send them to me and I will include them in the database, as long as the license allows us to do so.

Best

Marc
