Hi,
We are currently looking at how to categorise airports so that we can exclude minor airports from search results. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be fcodes for this.
Is it possible to introduce the fcodes to indicate if an aiport is international or internal?
For example Cardiff Airport would be classed as international and Swansea Airport would be classed as internal/national.
Thanks,
David

Hi David
Can you provide the data for this? Otherwise it does not make much sense discussing about new attributes or value domains if there is no data to populate it.
Regards
Marc

Hi Marc,
We do have data on which geoname airports are international airport but i would imagine as soon as the airport codes were updated it would need to be maintained by the geonames community.
Thanks,
David

Hi,
I have built a database of all airports, categorising them as national or international, using the data from http://www.ourairports.com (for the airports themselves) and from http://arm.64hosts.com (the routes).
This is updated by me fairly regularly, using cron; I determine the classification of airports according to whether or not they have flights to/from international locations.
If anyone is interested, I could dump this data and send it to anybody who would like to incorporate it into GeoNames.
Regard,
Robert Essex
