In case you feel like expanding it, here is a service I would be interested in:
Land cover by latitude/longitude.

The data you would use to build the service is available free at http://www.mrlc.gov/scripts/mapserv.exe?map=d%3A%5CInetpub%5Cwwwroot%5Clccp%5Cmrlc2k%5Czones%5Czones.map

Even though the data is free, you need GIS software to open it , which I don't have. Otherwise, I would just do it myself!

Basically, the service would return % urban imperviousness, the type of vegetative cover and tree cover % when provided geographical coordinates.

Thanks for the link. It is certainly interesting information, tough not trivial to implement. It would need some effort to properly implement a web service with this data set.
Anyone else interested in this service?
