I'm new to GeoNames and would like to contribute to improve the quality of data but am unable to make any changes, so am listing them here instead:

The following are non-sensical and should be deleted:
6951060 Scotch Corner233
6692244 Midden Engeland
11548647 usa

The following are duplicates and should be merged
2655705 Bidford-on-Avon
6640065 Bidford-on-avon
and
8410944 St. George's Channel
2960846 Saint Georges Channel

2650301 Eattington is misspelt and should be Ettington

2643645 Longridge Fell elevation is wrong, it should be 350m (1148ft).

6695895 queen's circus has bad case

6286455 Ledbury CSTL - there is no such place as "Ledbury Castle" and nothing at all at that location so this should be deleted

Instead, there is an "Eastnor Castle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastnor_Castle), a few miles east of Ledbury, but this is missing and it won't let me add it because it says it's a duplicate of 6286373 Bronsil Castle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bronsil_Castle). These are two very different places and Eastnor Castle is vastly more significant.

Hi all,
I'm trying to add Alternate Names for the Paris Arrondissements, as some/most of them don't have their expected structure.
I could change for Paris 06, but when I go to Paris 01, 02..., I don't have the "Plus" button for the Alternate Names that would allow me to add a new Alternate Name.

What am I doing wrong ?

I tried to remove two entries for Europe's name in Russian: one mistaken ("Европы", genitive case) and one vandal ("Рашка", actually, a Mediaeval kingdom in modern Serbia); but got "Authirization error", although was logged in.

"Рашка" (pronounced "Rashka") is a colloquial and somewhat derogatory term used in Russian to refer to Russia. It often carries a pejorative or mocking connotation, implying a negative view of the country, its government, or its people. The term is derived from the word "Россия" (Rossiya), which is the Russian word for Russia, but altered to sound diminutive or belittling.

would it be sufficient to mark it as colloquial or shall we delete it?

I have deleted Европы. I assume some users want to add all cases to fix search issues. However, the solution is to use better search algorithms (stemming) we cannot add all cased in all languages as alternatenames.

I thought that this database is not about slurs, so Raška.

It is definitely not. Comes directly from English Russia.

It's a derogatory term, on the same level of offensiveness as Kike for Jew; more offensive than Murica.

Most importantly, it's not a term for Europe anyway.

    * Kuvnetsk (probably a typo),

    * Stalinsk (historical, not marked as such),
    * Сталинск (hostorical, not marked as such).
