The forum is a third party software and we have not (yet) implemented a singlesignon with the geonames usernames for editing toponyms.
It needs two different users. One for the forum and one for editing geographical records. Your user probably has the latter but is missing the former.

Hi,

I have added a new place and noticed that Reading town centre is about 3.1km SW of it's correct position. would it be ok to up my admin level so I can move it please? I'm also doing some work where I may need to add others and nudge some to a more appropriate and correct location if that's ok?

Many Thanks

Si

Did you try to move this toponym
http://www.geonames.org/2639577/reading.html ?

It has a level of 0, everybody can move and edit it. Did you get any error message? Have you been logged in?

Hi Marc,

Thanks for the reply. It is that one, I am logged in and I receive the following message when trying to move it:

error while saving:
The record you want to edit is locked for updates for userlevel1

Best Regards

I have increased your user level. It is probably the population that triggered the exception.

Nathalie

You already have a higher userlevel. What are you trying to do?

Hello, Marc,

I want to correct the admin divisions of Taiwan but it says,
"error while saving: your user level is not sufficient for this insert." after I click "SAVE" button.

How can I get a higher user level, or who I have to send the right data to?
(My username is hit1205, same as here.)

BTW, how can I combine two locations into one?
They're really the same location but that it seems no tool to combine them together.

Thanks.

Hello,

The timezone for Tomsk, Russia is actually Asia/Novosibirsk, not Asia/Krasnoyarsk (see for example http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.time.tz/1173). I tried to fix it, but all I got was "The record you want to edit is locked for updates for userlevel1". Can you help, please?

I have the same question as hit1205,

How can I combine 2 locations.

Ex.
http://www.geonames.org/6301137/suvarnabhumi-airport.html
http://www.geonames.org/6698756/suvarnabhumi-airport.html

I would appreciate the increase in user level as well.
