Hi Marc

1) There is a duplicated administrative location of second level:
Montenegro, at the state of Rio Grande do Sul
Geoname ID = 3456826 and Geoname ID = 6319200, both as ADM2.
6319200 has the right admin 2 code (4312401).
On the other hand 3456826 has the right coordinates but its admin 2 code does not exist in Brazil though, under IBGE's list.
There should be only one marked as ADM2

2) There is a mismatch for Salto, at the state of São Paulo:
Geoname ID = 3450594 has the right coordinates and admin 2 code is also correct but it is not defined as ADM2.
On the other hand, Geoname ID = 6322532 is marked as ADM2 but its coordinates do not match Salto's ones. In addition, its admin 2 code does not exist in Brazil, according to IBGE.
So 3450594 should be marked as ADM2 and 6322532 should be classified as something else and have a null admin 2 code.

Would you fix them please?

Regards
Gilros

Thanks. I have fixed them.

Do you have a link to the newest IBGE codes? I cannot find them on the ibge web site.

I found something here: ftp://geoftp.ibge.gov.br/regioes_de_influencia_das_cidades/banco_de_dados/
But the codes seem to be from 2003. There are 291 fewer ADM2 than we currently have in our db.

Best Regards

Marc

Hi Marc

Thanks for your action.

Actually I could not find a file at IBGE's site with all information Geonames has but if you want just a list of IBGE's codes and names there is a spreadsheet at ftp://geoftp.ibge.gov.br/organizacao_territorial/divisao_territorial/2009/dtb_05_05_2009.zip. In order to see only the 5.565 ADM2 in Brazil, set the following filters: column "Distrito" to 05 and column "Subdistrito" to empty.

Well ... And speaking of 5.565 municipalities in Brazil, I found out Geonames data miss one municipality: It is Nazário, GeonameID = 6320025. It is defined as PPL but actually it is an ADM2 location according to IBGE. Its code is 2206720. The place was recognized as a municipality on 05-OCT-2008.

Would you please make this change too?

Thanks.
