More than a hundred alternate names written in the Chinese Pinyin alphabet are tagged with language code 'pny'. This is not a language code for the Pinyin writing system. Rather, it is a code for an unrelated African language that happens to be also called "Pinyin." The correct way to tag text written in the Chinese Pinyin alphabet is "zh-Latn" or "zh-Latn-pinyin".
