So honestly my interest is a bit selfish, I use a running app that has wrong geo data and it bother me big time, I found out that the data comes from GeoNames.
Now seeing the UI and looking to edit a few items I'm most. The site really has ZERO documentation help resolve some issues. I fully believe the issue all starts with lack/poor documentation. What should be listed at all, in my instance a mobile home park is listed as a "class" being a city/village, with a code of populated place.
What are the purpose of each code? They must have a meaning but how does one find this out? Where of where is this info stored? How does one just stumble across it? This is just leading to bad information.
Thank

There is plenty of documentation about Geonames, it just takes a bit of searching for.
Here is a good place to start: http://www.geonames.org/sitemap.html
