Trying to create a placename @ 3.19716, 19.74112 (Dem Rep of Congo), and getting a "duplicate" error from a nearby town.

The town I'm trying to place is Bobadjoko, the nearby town is Bobadjoko-Moke.

Error:
* duplicate record. A similar record to Bobadjoko already exists with 'Bobadjoko-Moke' and id =8235335 in 2.3522341699655867 km distance

There's a similar pairing just to the south of Bodumbili and Bodumbili-Moke, but they are further apart. I don't want to create it further out and then move it in later - that might make things worse.

I find it hard to believe that a partial name match would trigger a duplicate like this. Is it stumbling over the hyphen perhaps? I've seen that happen on sql database lookups - if the hyphen is not called out as an allowed character, the query may ignore the rest of the string after the hyphen. Shot in the dark.

Thanks in advance, anyway...

Hi Greg

Yes, partial names also raise a duplicate exception.
If you are sure it is a separate place you can add it with a different name (like BobadjokoXXX) and rename it immediately afterwards.

Best Regards

Marc
