Hello,

In this query

Code:
http://api.geonames.org/countryCode?lat=47.03&lng=10.2&username=demo

Does the country come from the nearest place to the lat/long, or is it the actual country of that lat/long location. The former would get it wrong if you were near a border with a large city nearby just over the border.

thanks
Dave

Hi Dave

The result comes from the boundary polygons. For many countries (in particular in the oecd countries) the quality of the polygons is quite good. For other countries the polygons might be 100m or more off and it cannot be exluded that the border line is not excact.

Best Regards

Marc
