Hi all,

This is my first post.

I started using the free gazetteer data file called allCountries.zip, then indexing it using apache lucene, so that I can search for places basing on queries by position (lat, long), or by name etc.

So for so good.

I would like to know how I can use the allCountries file to provide hierarchical information to the positions, such as the geotree website (http://geotree.geonames.org/) does. Given a location, I would like to access the top position and so on until the maximum level.

In allCountries, according to the geoname table documentation, I can access the country code, admin codes etc, but no attribute seemed to allow hierarchical information in same detail as in geotree.

What can be done in this case?
