I put in my UK postcode PA35 1HN, and it produced a map some 15 miles out. When I scrolled the map down to my village - the database didn't even recognise it as Dalavich, but instead showed a single holiday home a mile away as being the nearest populated place!

Hi

We only have the first letters of the postal codes for the UK.

If you see missing places, please feel free to add them with the wiki interface : http://www.geonames.org/manual.html
Thank you.

Happy Holidays

Marc

even worse goes for Bangkok postal codes - Bangkok cod 10170 for a district Thawi Wattana and cod 10160 for district Taling Chan both point to Sukhothai, some 500 km north of Bangkok.

http://www.geonames.org/postal-codes/TH/10/bangkok.html
13. Thawi Wattana 10170 Thailand Bangkok 17.136/99.402
14. Taling Chan 10170 Thailand Bangkok 17.136/99.402

while trying to insert a new name a message:
"error while saving:
country code TH is not neighbouring to TH"

appeares.

btw somehow I couldn't register on these boards (cod not recognised) but would appreciate if you register me manually:
user: massagelondon
email: massagelondon@gmail.com
and any password (which I would later change)

on top of it
page http://www.geonames.org/maps/google_17.136_99.402.html

refers to Map center : N 13° 46' 58'' E 100° 24' 32'

district Taling Chan is to the east of the road running through the middle N-S and district Thawi Wattana to the west of this same road.

anyhow - let me know to my email when a possibility of inserting of a new names is done and I can work a little on Bangkok

The postal code coordinates for Thailand have been improved. The problem with 10170 is fixed with the newest version.
