Hello,

I would like to query geonames.org through jena. Is it possible??

For example, let's say that i know the longitude and latitude of a place, how can i query geonames.org through jena?? I would like that geonames return to me the map.

Is it feasible??

From where do i have to start??

Thank you.
Vivi.

a geonames sparql endpoint is planned but not yet available. For the time being you would have to call the xml or json services. Whether this is possible with jena you would have to enquire on a jena specific forum.

Cheers

Thank you Marc.

What about geoSparql??

I am confused. It is said that it isn't maintained but if you try the example queries, it seems working.

The geonames sparql endpoint that is planned will be available soon??

Thank you.

Now I am confused. Which example queries are you speaking of?

The server for the sparql endpoint is now being setup, I guess it will still take some time till it can be officially released and advertised.

Thank you Marc.

I am referring to http://geosparql.appspot.com/ and example and recent queries.

Is there any way to get the map from geonames for a specific location??

More specifically, I would like to get back the map of a location and display it in a jframe.

Is it possible??

Thank you.

I was not aware of geosparql.appspot.com.
GeoNames does not have any maps. The maps you see on this website are provided by google. Check out the googlemaps documentation for details: http://code.google.com/apis/maps/index.html

Thank you Marc.

I have concluded that possibly i have to use JMapViewer or JXMapViewer.

Thank you for your replies.
