The current auto-zoom/auto-pan feature makes it very difficult to navigate search results at times - is there a way to disable it?

I regularly have cases where results are returned worldwide, and I am unable to zoom in to a level where I can separate individual results before the website decides to zoom out again to display everything.

There's also the annoying feature of the display snapping to a nearby result whilst scrolling if a search term has inadvertently been left in the search bar, which completely disorients the user - this usually tends to happen whilst I'm trying to add a new marker, meaning I lose the location and have to find it again.
