There are a lot of populated places which are located close to each other (less than 1 degree deviation) and have the same names.
Is it duplicate entries?
For instance, what is the difference between records where geonameid =
1633423 and geonameid = 1963770?
I understand that 1963770 is newer one and has population statistic
and more accurate latitude&longitude, but why do you need save the
outdated 1633423?
I don't know anything about the two places, but what springs to the eyes is that google also has two places with the same name. I don't know whether there are really two names or whether a source that everybody is using lists the same name twice.
