I'm using PostGresql with the PostGis extensions. I need to load admin boundaries into the database and then I'll be able to link with the Geonames data to get features within X.

CodePoet in An earlier post directed us to a good source of admin boundaries at

I did a bit of searching and came across this:
http://biogeo.berkeley.edu/gadm/

Here is another site with lots of Gis data that you may find useful:
http://biogeo.berkeley.edu/bgm/gdata.php

Which is great data, but when I try to load it into Postgres via shp2pgsql the sql genereted won't work.

Has anyone tried using this dataset and managed to import it into Postgres? If so how?

Thanks
