I would like to use the geonameid within our databases but we are using this service mainly for the postcode data. Is there a correlation between the place names and postcodes as the postcode download data does not have a geonameid.
That is, can I take a placename and the geonameid and then look for a match (on placename) in the postcode dump to get the postcode, then store placenameid, placename and postcode in our database?
