I am curious about how the names of Country Subdivisions are determined. Even though they refer to a geoname they don't use its name, and often contain strange things like names from two languages (eg Finland) or names that contain inline notes, eg Nouvelle-Calédonie (see also separate ISO 3166-1 entry under NC). Some will contain a qualifier signifying the type of division (eg "Saint Patrick Parish") while some will not. Some have multiples of these ("South Moravian Region (Jihomoravsky kraj)").
